Caro Montes: Girl with a Guitar

Caro Montes is beloved in Mexico. Originally from Monterrey, Nuevo León, this gifted singer, composer and performer makes music that is fusion of electronic sound with pop, soul, rock and a touch of experimental. As part of jazz/rock group Aguamala (first band of her professional career) Caro is a regular performer at several international music festivals such as the Riviera Maya Jazz Festival (2005, 2007, 2008, 2009) and the Irapuato Music Festival, among others. Often sharing the stage with musicians like Fernando, Eugenio and Enrique Toussaint, Luis Conte, Dirk Freemud, Mark Anderson, and performing opening acts for Marcus Miller, Brian McKnight, Sacbe and Phil Perry, in 2010 Caro Montes debuted her first solo project at the Riviera Maya Jazz Summer Festival.

Having attended Caro’s concerts, I can personally attest to this young woman’s powerful vocal capabilities and magnetic stage persona. Yet in addition to big talent, Caro Montes is that rare and unpretentious embodiment of beauty, intelligence, grace and edge, all somehow combined into an effortless formula that elicits an internal glow unmistakably her own.
